Termites destroy the foundation by Jan Davis

Most of us have seen the destruction termites can cause. They destroy homes from the foundation up as they creep into the walls and ceilings. We question how a little insect accomplsihes that level of destruction. The secret: we never see just one. There are hundreds of these little insects working together for one common goal - the destruction of the foundation. This does not occur overnight, but over a period of months and years.

How many of us have asked the question, how did I get here? We all remember when we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior and began this journey, but few of us can pinpoint the time or place when we felt like our foundation was crumbling. Very seldom does it occur with a major event. We didn't just wake up one morning to discover our life was a wreck. But instead it was a process, a series of events or things that began to eat away at the very foundation of who we are.

Micah 2:10, "Arise you, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction."

Like termites, Satan creeps in to destroy from within, one little termite at a time. We don't see him or sense his presence, but he is there, gnawing away at our character, the very fiber of our existence. His termites eat away at us from the inside, invisible to those around us. Until, at last, they become obvious. We often see the damage before we discover the cause.

Satan has one purpose and that is to kill, steal and destroy the foundation upon which our life is built: our relationship with Christ.

But neither Satan nor his termites have any power over us, if our house is built upon the Rock of our Salvation. In Christ, we have a sure foundation. We have been washed and cleansed by His blood. Because of the Holy Spirit, we have the power and ability to trample these nasty little critters under our feet and destroy their disgusting existence. As we continue to build upon His foundation one rock at a time, our spirit, soul and body will be preserved from destruction.

Matthew 10:28, "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."
