I Can't Live Without You by Jan Davis

“I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid for I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” (John 14:18, 27, Heb. 13:5)

I heard a song recently and the lyrics went something like this: “I can’t live without you.”

While I understand the concept the words were conveying, I can’t help but think, “its not that I can’t live without Him, but I don’t have to.”

We have a choice: we can choose to live life our way, or choose His plan and purpose for our lives. He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. He has sent His Holy Spirit to comfort us and lead us into His righteousness.

Regardless of our circumstances God has promised to provide a way where there seems to be no way. It is in Him we find love, joy and peace. His love is unconditional and everlasting, His joy is our strength and His peace surpasses mans understanding. There is prosperity in His green pastures where He provides for our needs and grants the desires of our hearts. He offers rest for the weary beside His still waters. We find shelter in His arms, where no weapon formed against us shall prosper. Through His sufferings we have been given life, and live more abundantly, free from sickness and disease. He rejoices when we rejoice and weeps when we weep. He comforts us in our darkest hour and provides hope for tomorrow. His Holy Spirit is a shield about us, a light unto our path and a lamp unto our feet. He never intended for us to walk this journey alone and in darkness, but promised to be a help-mate to the widow, a father to the fatherless and our friend who sticks closer than a brother.

We have a choice; we can live our own life, or share it with the One who loves us more than life itself.

I love you, but Jesus loves you more.
