Almost every girl has dreamed of prince charming riding to the rescue on a white horse to deliver her from a life of despair. The prince will carry her away to his kingdom, where they will live happily ever after.
”And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.” - Rev. 1:5
Every fairy tale has an obstacle to overcome. Sometimes we may feel like Cinderella, stuck in a life of servitude and unappreciated; or Snow White, rejected and all alone in a dark forest. But we hold onto the hope of being rescued by our knight in shining armor and living happily ever after. He will kiss away all the past hurts and carry us away to be with him forever. There we will feel loved and protected, living a storybook ending.
”And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.” - Rev. 19:11
Christ is our prince charming, our knight in shining armor. He came to earth in search of those who would love Him and desire to be with Him throughout eternity. He came to heal the broken-hearted and set the captive free. He provided light in the darkness and protection from evil. Someday Christ will return, riding a white horse, to take His bride to a mansion He has prepared in His kingdom. There will be no tears, no sorrow, no pain — only love, joy and peace.
As his princess, we will walk on streets of gold, through gates of pearls and into the presence of our Heavenly Father. God, the host of the ceremony, will read our names in the Book of Life and welcome us into His kingdom. As the Father of the Bridegroom, He will prepare a banquet feast to celebrate the marriage of His Son. We will eat from the Tree of Life and drink from living fountains. We will be seated in a place reserved for Christ’s bride, and celebrate as a choir of angels sing praises, glory and honor to the Bridegroom.
Until then, we may not see Him, but we feel His presence and know He is near. Our hope is in Him. We have been washed in the blood of the lamb. We are clothed in His righteousness and adorned in garments of praise. Our pots are filled with the oil of His Holy Spirit. The light of his love radiates from within as we share our joy with others. It’s time to send out wedding invitations for our happily ever-after storybook ending.
